Getting to the Old Head & Speckled Door.

At the bottom of this section you will find online driving instructions to the Speckled Door and the Old Head of Kinsale. We are near the end of the Old Head penninsula. Two roads can bring you here. From West Cork and Kerry via Clonakilty and Bandon, or from everywhere else that will bring you here via Kinsale Town.

From Kinsale: Leave Kinsale town via the New Bridge, taking the road to Ballinspittle. About 1.5 miles from Kinsale is the "Barrells Cross" crossroad. Here, take the left at this crossroads which is sifnposted for the "Old Head". Keep to this road for 4 miles and find the Speckled Door on your left.

From West Cork, Kerry: Go to the town of Innishannon. On the Bandon side of the town of Innishannon, (immediately after the bridge), take the left road for Ballinspittle. From Ballinspittle take the coast route to Garretstown and from the beachside follow on the main road for just over a mile until you meet the Speckled Door on your Right hand side.
